The DESK

Most of the pieces I work on has some sort of problem other than the need of a face lift. This desk was no different, it had a broken leg. Really, it was the base that was broken. I thought the hard part was going to be to replicate the base. But that took me 10 minutes. No it was getting the old one off! The screws came out fine it was the 50+year old glue that eat my lunch!

And viola! It's on!

Primered!

Danish Modern Mid Century Desk

Guess who's learning how to sand?  He really wants this desk in his room!  He's sanding I'm patching.  Because we are doing a high gloss finish on this piece, we have to have an extra smooth surface!

KROEHLER BUFFET OR DRESSER WITH MIRROR

Just finished this elegant piece today.  It is made by Kroehler, one of the oldest furniture companies in the country.  With 9 drawers, 3 of which are hidden behind the door, it is made of white oak and has dove tail construction.  I painted it black and gently distressed  it, finishing it off in a clear top coat.

I guess my love and skill for refinishing and painting came from my parents.  When ever we wanted a change in our rooms, my mother would say "lets paint"!  The walls, the furniture.  Very cost effective. lol   Still today its a great way to lift your spirits with a new look and not a lot of money.  And have fun while you're doing it!

This antique quilting rocker has been redone in silky white with a base coat of Pale Jade.  It was gently distressed to show the coat beneath.  The chair went to our niece who is expecting in June!

Farm House Style Dinette Set SOLD!
